La Vigne
Detroit, Michigan. USA.
The La Vigne Cycle Car company was located in Detroit, Michigan. USA.
As seen in their 1914 brochure below, their offering for that year included the Two Passenger Roadster for $425, the Two Passenger Cabriolet for $650 and the Light Parcel Delivery Car for $600.
The company’s key figure was J. P. La Vigne (sometimes written “La Vigne”). He was an early automobile / light-car / cycle-car engineer and inventor based in Detroit.
La Vigne had earlier automotive ventures: for example, he built a small car under the marque La Petite (1905–1906) via the Detroit Automobile Manufacturing Company in Detroit.
He also founded or was involved in several other companies (for example the Griswold Motor Company in 1907) focused on light cars and automotive inventions.
His manufacturing interests also stretched into other domains: for example, in 1906 he founded La Vigne Mfg. Co. (for brass parts, fittings) in Detroit.
