The Datsun "110", announced in January 1955, was the first postwar passenger vehicle to be completely designed from scratch. The truck (120) launched at the same time was also popular and a month after going on sale, the number of orders exceeded 2,000 units.
In November of the same year, the "112" with a redesigned grille (winner of the Mainichi Industrial Design Award) was launched and in June of the following year, it was replaced by the column-shift Datsun Sedan "113".
