For long-distance race entries, the Carrozzeria Touring company of Milan was asked to build an exceptionally lightweight coupe body on the BMW 328 chassis.
The car won the two-liter class of the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1939 and was a convincing overall winner of the 1940 Mille Miglia.
