During a very difficult economic period, Porsche design engineers boldly decided to go on the defensive. At the 1993 Detroit Motor show, Porsche a design study of a classic mid-engine roadster that is very well received in the United States and beyond.
The styling of this show car combines elements of the 356 No.1 and the 550 Spyder.
The strong response leads to the series production of the Boxster, which begins in the fall of 1996.
