The correct spelling is Donohue

Beautiful car, but lots of issues. And if owner reading, don't take it wrong either. As someone mentioned, correct spelling is DonOhue, not DonAhue, that is fat guy married to Marlo Thomas. You could NOT get a roof spoiler on a Mark Donohue Javelin, there is 1969 AM memo to Dealers about this. No AMC left Kenosha with a STR-11 cross ram, this was only available dealer installed accessory, no AMC engine in anything made in Kenosha with a cross ram. There was MORE than 200 made as mentioned here and more than 3 registered in US. I have owned over 12 of them, no big deal of 365 AMCs owned so far, 14 currently. If you went to AMC National in Detroit 2010 there was about 10 Mark Donohue Javelins. The goofy little green tag here someone put on in past 40 years, no Mark Donohue (not DonAhue) Javelin had this, it is just someone previous owner put on there. Not unusual! The Mark Donohue option while mentioned was indeed available on SST could also be had on base edition Javelins, and many more 360s had this option than 390 and some 304s and also could be had in AT floor, 4 speed and column shift AT. I could go on here. I have a file on my site about Donohue Javelins, of which even AMC Dealers didn't call them Donohue Javelins but Javelins with spoilers. I have also "built" a number of 70 Javelins thru decades turning them into Donohue Javelins because I like the look. There is no way to authenticate a Mark Donohue Javelin in 2010, this is a file on my site from 1980s:
http://www.planethoustonamx.com/stuff/mark_donohue_javelin.htm

Not taking anything away from this beautiful example either but hate to see DonOhue mispelled....and when I get questions from people from overseas or ebay about a car that may/may not be a Donohue the first words out of mouth are like in court, to prove it. Not being harsh, but burden of proof lies on those making claims as to what car is and how it came, so window sticker, dealer order form, NOT build sheet, comes in handy.

Good luck to whoever owns this beautiful car, it's a great example, and a rare example, of American Motors finest years and you will do fine in judging wherever this car shows up, sure to attract a crowd!

I cry now looking at this... about 15 years ago, I OWNED one of the SST 390 Mark Donahue Javelins.... and didn't know what I had other than a REALLY awesomely looking and running car... I let it go for $50....shoot me now

I had one with a 390 back in 77. Unfortunately I threw the #1 rod through the block @ 15 mph none the less (I was down shifting hard). I wish I had kept it, it would be worth $ today

The miss- spelled Donohue was put on by somebody who didn't know what they were doing from a used car dealer. This is MY car and somebody took pictures from a car show. I didn't know MY car was for sale. This is a scam... But what the heck. Make me an offer!!

What is a scam Chris?

Thomas Cascio121 days ago

I had 1 just like that in Bitter Sweet Orange. The roof spoiler would keep the rear window clear doing 60mph in the raino The 390 motor didn't need much fine tuning and the B-W 4 spd was easy shifting. It was the fastest car I ever drove. Topped out about 145-150mph per Vet drive I raced once one early Sunday morning.
