Our world is changing very fast, and the automotive industry is struggling to find ways to address the transportation issues that will face us all.
Below are (three of the) five new emblems from GM you will be seeing on many vehicles that will identify the energy power source used. For more details, see the GM link below.
Fuel Cell emblem.
Hybrid emblem.
Biofuels emblem (representing fuels like E85 Ethanol).

Is it a good thing that different car companies are developing their own icons for these features, or should there be a standard icon set (like the USB icon for example, even though I think intel owns/invented USB).
How dated are these going to look in 20-30 years? They remind me of artwork I'd see on a Leapfrog toy.
This fuel efficiency issue is complicated enough for most consumers. I think it would be beneficial to develop a "global" set of icons that represent the industry, instead of a manufacturer.
