Gutbrod was a German car manufacturer. The firm was founded by Wilhelm Gutbrod in 1926.
It originally built motorcycles, between 1933 and 1935. Standard Superior cars were built with rear-mounted engines. The small Gutbrod Superior model was produced between 1950 and 1954 using own manufactured, front-mounted twin-cylinder two-stroke engines (593cc and 663 cc). 7726 cars were produced in fact.
In 1956, Norwegian Troll cars were equipped with Gutbrod engines.

It is indeed interesting to note that there is a record of a car that I had known during my childhood days in the early fifties in Chittagong, Bangladesh (previously East Pakistan). My dad bought this only car from a contractor who had imported it from Germany. It was a two door, four seater sedan, deep blue color with a two stroke engine. I recall that we poured motor oil together with the petrol. This was our first car that my dad owned and we enjoyed many miles of driving pleasure. The problem with this car was that bags had to be loaded by folding the rear seat as there was no access to the trunk from the outside. However once the car broke down because of cylinder problems it could not be repaired as spare parts were not available. My first driving lessons were made in this car. I used to put the car in the garage and take it out.
